Keep on trekking!!
Whist we wait for funding for the Cape Raoul leg of the Three Capes Walk why not promote and encourage walkers to extend their walk at the other end of the new formal walk, at Fortesque Bay.
Indeed, it is a pity that the formal Three Capes Walk terminates at Fortescue Bay, making necessary a twelve kilometre drive out to the Arthur Highway over a rough gravel road.
A great alternative for those who prefer to spend another day (7 hours) enjoying our amazing coastline is to continue their walk from Fortesque Bay along the Tasman Track all the way through to Waterfall Bay or to the Devils Kitchen at Eaglehawk Neck; at no additional cost.
The Tasman Track has been in use for decades, is in good condition (although not the 6 star track of the formal walk) and arguably provides some of the best coastal scenery on the Tasman Peninsula.
Pickup can be from Waterfall Bay Lookout or the Devils kitchen, close to all the attractions and tourism infrastructure at Eaglehawk Neck.
These pickup points would also enable local tourism operators to liaise with walkers to continue their Tasman Peninsula experience at the end of their walk.
Once the Cape Raoul section of the formal track is complete the Forteque Bay – Eaglehawk Neck section can remain as an add-on and, in time, be upgraded to Three Capes Track 6 star standard.
