The usual reminder of our upcoming films at the Eaglehawk Neck Community Hall, plus info on a Christmas concert later this month.
This Thursday, 10th December at 7.30pm we will be screening the 1943 World War II Busby Berkeley musical comedy The Gang’s All Here (G rated, 99 minutes) featuring Alice Faye Carmen Miranda (fruit-fly-free headgear recommended) and the Benny Goodman Orchestra. On Saturday 12th December at 7.00pm we will be screening the 1991 comedy-drama The Fisher King (M rated, 132 minutes) directed by Monty Python’s Terry Gilliam (Brazil, 12 Monkeys). Stars Jeff Bridges, Robin Williams, Amanda Plummer and Mercedes Ruehl (winner best supporting actress Oscar). A despondent and suicidal ex-DJ (Bridges), whose actions have caused a tragedy affecting other people, is saved by a mad eccentric (Williams) who thinks he is on a quest to find the Holy Grail. Nominated for five Oscars (including Williams as best actor; he won the Golden Globe). Come along at 6.00pm for hot food and snacks.
In January (Saturday 9th at 7.00pm) we will be featuring the animated family-friendly feature Inside Out (PG, 102 minutes) about a young girl whose emotions help her overcome the move to a new home and school. Great entertainment for adults and children – and don’t forget that children under 16 are admitted free if accompanied by a film society member – an opportunity to take the grandkids out for the night.
On Friday 18th December at 7.30pm the four-piece early music group Sequenza will be performing a concert at the Hall of Christmas Music Through the Ages. Admission $10 and refreshments available for sale.
Please let me know of any films that you would like considered for inclusion on our next screening calendar (March to August) and also if you wish to be removed from this emailing list.
If we don’t see you at the screenings, all the best for the festive season.
