Thursday 5th July at 6.30pm the Wilderness Society will be hosting a screening at the Hall of the 1987 Tasmanian ‘classic’ The Tale of Ruby Rose (PG rated, 135 min), as part of a tour of the film around Tasmania to mark the 30th anniversary of its production. Filmed in the Walls of Jerusalem National Park in winter. This was writer/director Roger Scholes’ first feature film. It won four awards at the Venice Biennale in 1987 and has since been digitally remastered. Wilderness Society members will present the film and discuss some of the challenges to the breathtaking wilderness areas presented on screen.
