Waterfall Bay is perhaps one of Eaglehawk Neck’s best kept secrets.
This scenic location features a 100 metre waterfall flanked by rugged gold cliffs, it’s green capped peaks in stark contrast to the dark blue waters below.
The waterfall is best seen after heavy rains and is frequently reduced to a trickle or a sweeping black stain in the heat of summer.
Local cruise boats frequent the area to enjoy a closer view of the falls, the bay is also a favourite amongst divers, fishing boats and a known prime spot for abalone.
From the lookout begins the fantastic Waterfall Bluff walking trail, accessible and a great way to take in some of Tasmania’s best views.
The Waterfall Bay Lookout is reachable directly by car (via unsealed Waterfall Bay Rd), a 1.5hr hike beginning at Tasman Arch or by boat to the base of the bay.
