Dear Community Members,

- An approach to parks and wildlife to fix the lower part of cashes lookout track from the beach access to blowhole rd was made but rejected by pPWS
- Deer issue Trapping is to or has commenced in the area, deer are to be trapped tranquilliser and taken away to be disposed of (They cannot be shot on site because of regulations regarding shooting within 250 meters of residential houses.)
These are just some of the issues we deal with within the community and we need community volunteer support to help keep the association going and bring your ideas to fruition!
Please give this some thought and if available come to our next meeting or we loose our /your VOICE
REPORT CARD TO DATE
“ENACT’s” achievements over the last 12 years
A distinctive ‘Welcome to Eaglehawk Neck – Gateway to the Tasman Peninsula’ top of Neck Hill
We have a 15m legal fire break around the Community Hall.
No large pine trees on the sand dunes.
No neglected sections on Waterfall Bay Road.
Whale Watchers Lookout with a toilet, picnic tables, landscaping and sealed surface where the Surfers car park/gravel pit used to be.
Working Bees caring for the garden around the Officers’ Quarters.
We have seven beautiful, solid timber picnic tables strategically placed throughout Eaglehawk Neck, providing a discrete memorial to those who served.
Partial mitigation of serious flooding around the Community Hall through cleared drainage from the Arthur Hwy.
Fire safety features in and around EHN clearly identified and clarified. (Location of safe place)
We have created the prospect that the management of the Eaglehawk Neck Historic Site will be transferred to the Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority.
Strong relationships State government agencies, local council, businesses and community organisations.
Regular local press stories about positive progress in our community. Thank you, Tasman Gazette, for supporting our story.
ENACT secured State Government support in 2018 to provide a vital section of Stage One of the Teralina Track. State Road’s widening of the Arthur Highway across the Neck was opened in January 2023 at a final cost of $5.4 million. This includes, a footpath across the Neck, safer turning into and off Blowhole Rd to the highway and the Community Hall, two bus stops and a safe pedestrians crossing island near Old Jetty Road.
ENACT has seen parts of other stages of the Teralina Track completed; from Caribbean Court to Doo Town (Stage Four) and from the eastern end of Doo Town to the Blow Hole Car Park (part of Stage Five), and now the Council have finished constructing the last bit to join these two section of 320m through Doo Town. The remaining stages are a work-in-progress.
