EXPLORE, WANDER, SEARCH.
Whimsical Doo Town enjoys an international reputation, drawing quaint adventurers from far and wide.
Visitors delight in finding as many of the 30 or so named abodes as they can – how many can you find?
Located at the southern end of Pirates Bay, this tiny community started out in the 1930’s as a small village of ‘holiday cottages’ more affectionately known to Tasmanian’s as ‘shacks’.
Hobart Architect Mr Eric Round was one of the first ‘shackles’ and the beginner of a long held tradition in naming his shack ‘DOO I’. The quaint idea quickly caught on and today almost all the thirty or so neighbouring shacks and homes boldly bear names such as ‘DOO DROP IN’, ‘DOO-LITTLE’ and ‘DOO-US’.
The community is nestled into the sand dunes and its overlooking hill, shouldered by the ocean, farmland and the Tasman National Park.
Take a quick drive around this winding, coastal village for a magical and entertaining experience!
